veneration

when i moved to santa cruz i was not able to bring my jewelry making materials, my paints, my linocutting tools, my wood burner or my film development stuff. naturally, expressing myself through creative outlets was quite tough at first but it has also led to trying out new mediums/developing new skills. in the spirit of providing an offer for a less private and digitized communion, i offer forth my first 3D design project. inspired by said communions, the intention behind this design is to create something like a family heirloom. the flower shaped beads are supposed to be made from obsidian: grounding us to remember we have a right to walk the lives we live as children of the earth as well as paying an homage to Huehueteotl (the native name of the Volcan de Colima). the jade beads to allow us to connect with the power of all life and life-giving forces like water. the mother of pearl beads so that we may always carry the coast with us, so that we continue to the be loved by the Pacific. there is no more meaningful reason for the purple bead other sharing a part of me as the giver of the offering, being that purple is my favorite color!
